One mission. Every year since 2003.
E-rehab was founded in 2003 by David Straight, PT, DPT, to promote the survival of physical therapy private practice. Nothing about that has changed. Here is the story, told the way we tell everything: in numbers you can check.
It started with a loss, not a business plan.
Before E-rehab, we ran a group physical therapy practice. A physician group that referred to us opened their own in-house physical therapy clinic. In three months, we lost 47% of our patient volume.
Good care did not save us. Referrals we did not control nearly ended us. That is the moment this company comes from.
So in 2003, David Straight, PT, DPT, and John Mason started E-rehab with one job: give private practices a way to bring in their own patients, so no one else gets to decide if they survive.
One referral source walked away. That was enough. We built E-rehab so it never has to be.
The record, year by year.
Keep scrolling. The year rolls forward, and the numbers only go up.
E-rehab opens its doors.
Founded by a physical therapist, for physical therapy private practices and nobody else. The first physical therapy websites go live. The first patient email newsletter goes out. And our first clients sign on. They are still our clients today.
The patient survey system launches.
Before online reviews mattered, we gave practices a way to hear from every patient and act on it. Listening first became a habit the whole system is built on.
Google Ads and local SEO begin.
Being the best clinician in town is not enough if Google does not know it. We started doing the work that puts a practice in front of patients searching right now.
Facebook pages for clients, and a better way to count.
We built the pages and posted the content so practices could be present where their patients already spent their time. The same year we moved every client website onto Clicky Analytics, and every visit since is in the count.
We start building websites for phones.
Years before most practices had a mobile site, ours were built for the phone in the patient’s hand. That is still where most patients find you.
The reputation system launches.
Software sends messages. A system produces reviews. Ours made it effortless for happy patients to say so on Google.
Call tracking switches on.
We stopped reporting traffic and started reporting what matters: patients tapping the phone number on a client website.
Our first practice in Canada.
From one clinic to 49 states and Canada. We are still looking for our first North Dakota practice.
AI joins the team.
We put AI to work in our production the same year ChatGPT arrived. Not a gimmick. A practical layer that makes us faster, with people who know physical therapy still in charge. That October, we presented AI for physical therapy marketing to the Private Practice Section.
The R5 Growth Engine gets its name.
Website, rankings, reputation, retention, reach. Five pieces that had always worked together, finally named as one system.
The Meta Marketing Engine launches.
Facebook and Instagram brand advertising aimed at the people who live near your clinic, so your practice becomes hometown famous. Still physical therapist owned. No long-term contracts. Clients stay an average of 7.8 years anyway.
Next: AI search and accessibility.
Patients are starting to ask AI tools where to go for care. Our next chapter makes sure the answer is you, on a website built to our accessibility standards.
The mission, word for word, since 2003
To promote the survival of physical therapy private practice.
What 20+ years adds up to.
Every number here is a tracked total. Most counting began years after our 2003 founding, so the real totals are higher.
